Man Says He Was Chopped Because Of Domestic Issues
Fri, February 17, 2012
23 year old Albert Nunez, a resident of Kelly Street, is tonight hospitalized at the KHMH after he was allegedly attacked with a machete by his girlfriend's baby's daddy.

The incident happened on Thursday morning at around 8:30. According to Nunez, he got involved in an argument with the accused Darwin Hilton - who was allegedly at his house demanding breakfast from his girlfriend.

Hilton later left his home but returned armed with a machete where he allegedly began chopping Nunez. In an off-camera interview with 7news this afternoon, Nunez gave us his account of the incident.

Albert Nunez - Chopping Victim
"The morning, my girl was making tea for me, her baby's father came demanding some tea from her. He came with an attitude. And I looked at my girl to see what she would do or say, and I didn't see anything coming from her in relation to what was happening, so I said to myself, 'Well, I don't really feel like a man right now, the way how things were going and the way everyone was moving in the environment that I was in. So I took initiative, and I spoke up. I told him that he shouldn't have come like that and demand food from my girl because my girl isn't with him anymore. And that isn't right and stuff like that. The person got very angry and started to say that if I knew him, he was going to do this and that to me within this altercation. The person got aggravated and frustrated with the words that we were exchanging, so he went - I don't know which way he went, or on what business he went on. Between about 10 to 20 minutes he came back, and he - I was not aware that he was within the area, and my back was turned towards him. That's how the wounds got inflicted. I first got chopped across my face - on my forehead - and I couldn't defend myself because I couldn't see anything. That was the advantage that he had over me. None of this should have happened because it was just an exchange of words. Sticks and stones may hurt me physically, but I think words should never hurt people. And the person that did this to me, I just want him to know that there is a time for everything. Vengeance isn't for me; vengeance is for God, and I just leave everything within the hands of the lord."

Albert Nunez received chop wounds to his forehead, arms and leg and is under observation at the KHMH. Police say they are looking for Darwin Hilton in connection with this incident.
