Russell Hyde Claims Police Setup
Fri, September 7, 2012
Roaring Creek Resident Russell Hyde is in the news again tonight. This time he came to us because he got out on bail - after spending a month on remand for a kidnapping charge.

42 year old Hyde, and 25 year old Roger Banner are accused of beating and kidnapping a woman who had been drinking with them. The 25 year old woman said she had to jump out of the vehicle at the Roaring Creek speedbump.

But now Hyde and Banner have gotten Supreme Court bail - and he came to our studio to say that it was all a setup from the start. He claims that while he was with the woman after she consented to get into his SUV - he alleges that the Officer Commanding in Cayo, Chester Williams inflated the allegation to force Hyde to bring in two illegal weapons - and he said he'd keep his SUV impounded until such time.

Here's what he told us today:..

Russsell Hyde
"They took us to San Ignacio and Chester told me that 'I told you I wanted that 12 and that 9 Beretta and I will put a charge on you so that you go straight to Hattieville prison.' One month later I got bail on the grounds that the statement given by the female that accused me could not come up with a kidnapping charge and I also have Chester Williams on tape to prove where I was wrongfully abuse. I want to play this tape and let the people know Chester Williams is doing in Cayo."

From Tape:
Russsell Hyde
"Morning boss, I come to check on those things that you send me to check on."

Chester Williams
"WPC, get Cpl. Wade to come see me."

Russsell Hyde
"Just tell me what they are."

Chester Williams
"A pump and a 9."

Russsell Hyde
"A Beretta and a pump in a case?"

Chester Williams
"Yes."

Russsell Hyde
"Alright, If I get these things you will give me my vehicle because I am working on it. You see me make two trips up here and I want you be a man of your word right. Okay boss, I will be back."

"So what you want me to do. I don't want to bring them, if I get them I will call you - call you to come pick up them because I don't want to get on the road and get caught again."

Chester Williams
"Okay no problem, just buzz the when you get it."

Russsell Hyde
"Then you can bring me to get my vehicle. Alright, thanks."

Chester Williams
"Okay good."

End Tape

Jules Vasquez
"Do you know about these guns?"

Russsell Hyde
"No sir."

Jules Vasquez
"Because you all seem to be talking about two specific weapons; a Beretta type 9 and a pump 12. It's not any two guns."

Russsell Hyde
"Because he told me about this before, that's why he send for me in Cayo and tell me that if I don't hand over those guns he will make sure he gets me and charge me and send me back to Cayo and send me to Hattieville."

Jules Vasquez
"Mr. Williams is not a fool. He must have some reason to think that you know about these guns."

Russsell Hyde
"He can think, he can think all he wants. I have no guns, so I decided when I was in prison thinking that I have to get back Chester and get him on tape and let the people know what is happening and so now I got him on tape and I am back here to clear up my name because I feel ashamed because I am not that type. I don't need to do that."

We could not reach Sr. Superintendent Williams for comment as he is returning to law school in Barbados.
