Robber Who Was Shot Arraigned In Court

On Wednesday's newscast7News told you about the robber who got shot at the Dit's Restaurant on King Street. That man is 22 year-old Aspinal Welch, a construction worker of 64 King Street, and tonight, he is at prison on remand.

As we reported, at about 2:45 p.m. o Wednesday, Aspinal allegedly charged into the restaurant with a gun and tried to rob one of the patrons.

The target put up a fight which caused Welch to fire 2 shots from his .38 revolver. The patron responded by pulling out his own licensed 9 millimeter pistol, and shot Welch in both legs.

Police found him with a .38 revolver with five expended shells. Today, he was taken before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where he was arraigned on charges of attempted murder, and keeping an unlicensed firearm.

He couldn't be granted bail, and he was remanded to prison until January 4, 2013.
