| OW Cop Died Of Drowning, Not Foul Play |

Last night, 7News told you about 44 year-old Police Constable Antonio Chan, the officer who was found dead in the Belize New River in the Trial Farm Area of Orange Walk Town. There was some uncertainty surrounding his death, and speculation arose that it could have been foul play.
But it turns out that he drowned; that's according to Dr. Mario Estradabran, who conducted a post-mortem, which revealed that he died due to asphyxia due to drowning.
And while his cause of death is now certified, there is still no explanation yet of what caused him to drive his vehicle into the river - which is where he drowned.
The other death over the weekend in Croozal is more clear cut. 37 year old Israel Matu was killed between Chan Chen and Patchakan Village in a cane field. He had been at a bar in and left on his bicycle but never got home. Reports tonight are that police have a suspect who they intend to charge for murder.
