After A Long While, A Regatta To Remember
Wed, March 12, 2014

Last night, we showed you some of the 9th of March weekend activities like the Kite Contest, the Ruta Maya race and the opening ceremony of the 2014 Reef Week. Â But one that we didn’t get to last night is really the original 9th. of March event. That is the Baron Bliss Harbour Regatta which has been held in the Belize City harbor every year since 1928, one year after Baron Bliss’s death. Recently, the number of boats participating has dwindled, but not so this year, when the Belize Sailing Association joined the party; it’s 47 teenaged sailors in their Optimist class sailing dinghies gave the harbor regatta a shot in the arm of fresh, young blood who look to keep alive the tradition for many years to come.  Here’s the story:

The Sailing association had also held a regatta of six races for the Optimist class only of Buttonwood bay on Saturday.
