Coye Family Money Still On Ice
Fri, May 23, 2014
While he has until Monday to pay up, Saldivar was in Supreme Court today to try to get money for the Coye Family from their frozen bank accounts. The Panamanian company Internet Experts SA says that the Coyes owe them 4.8 million dollars, and that company is seeking to recover via a private claim.

The case went back before the newly appointed Justice Young, where the family was asking the court to allow them a small amount of money from the accounts so that they can pay their bills. That application was granted, and Saldivar gave us an update on the case:

Arthur Saldivar, Attorney
"What's before the court is the freezing order which is discretionary remedy that was sought and was granted on the prior occasion by the claimant company Internet Experts and what's being determined is whether or not that order should extend to the time of trial or it should be discharge at this time. From my point of view certainly representing the respondents in the matter I am of the opposing view which is the natural and to be expected, but I wouldn't know exactly what is being contemplated at this point by her. I just know that based on the principles of law that's there she has enough to consider based on the submissions that was made to her."

Daniel Ortiz
"What exactly is your client's position on this matter?"

Arthur Saldivar, Attorney
"My clients' position is clear that there is no basis for this freezing order, but again those who sought it laid out certain grounds and considering what our law is they were entitle to be granted it under those circumstances. Certainly at this present moment the respondents have been given a chance to lay out their position and it terms of that position we believe it's strong enough to allow for the court to have sufficient information to make a very informed decision."

Justice Young will deliver her judgment next week as to whether or not she will extend the freezing order until the end of private claim from Internet Experts SA.
