They're advertising for Perrera's replacement as well as the post of Chief Executive Officer, because as we told you last week Friday, the Board has decided not to renew Dr. Gary Longsworth's contract, which expires in September.
Since 2008, Dr. Longsworth has been a part of the hospital's management, but the accomplishments of his tenure is forever overshadowed by the deaths of 13 neonatal patients in the care of the hospital, which happened last year.
Board Chair Nisbet-Cansino told the media today that the statutory body decided that it was time to start exploring new options for the post of CEO:

"Dr. Longsworth submitted a request for an extension of his contract. However the Board had decided from the last renewal that at the end of this present contract which I believe will be in September - which we will advertise the post and anyone is free to apply."

"Would you be at liberty to tell us the reasons behind the Board making such a decision?"

"Well he has been with the board for two contract period and extensions and I think it's time for us now as a Board to look at the available options that we have out there in the general population and that's the reason for opening it up for applications."

"Yes he has."

"Usually if a Board would be satisfied with the performance of any employee they would retain their services so tell us if there is any dissatisfaction with the manner in which he has carried out his responsibilities and duties."

"As a Board we just think that it's time to advertise the post and get an infusion of what is available out there for us to view and decide who we will hire in the next contract period."

"Is there anybody the board is looking at or has approached at this time?"

"Not at this time, we will literally advertise the position and anybody who meets the qualifications is free to apply. It will be a completely transparent process."

"In terms of deadlines, by when do you expect that post to be filled?"
Chandra Nisbet-Cansino
"Well, Dr. Longsworth's contract will up sometime in September, so probably the ad will be out sometime towards the ending of this month, the beginning of August."

"Would you say that Dr. Longsworth successfully carried out his responsibilities?"

"I would say that Dr. Longsworth did his best."
