Man Convicted of Stealing From His Own Brother
Fri, November 7, 2014
48 year-old Luke Antonio Nicholas is out tonight after spending 6 months in jail while awaiting trial for stealing from his own brother. His family punished him because they were sure that he did the crime, and so when he returned to court today, he finally confessed.

His brother, Bruce Codrington, told police that between May 3 and May 21, 2014, someone broke into his garage in Hattieville and stole 2,150 dollars' worth of property. Police investigated the theft and eventually charged Luke Nicholas with handling stolen goods after all the items were recovered from his possession. He was arraigned in Magistrate's Court, and he was offered bail of $3,000, which he couldn't meet after pleading not guilty.

His family refused to help him out with bail money, and so he spent 6 months on remand until his case was called up today for an adjournment. He chose to accept responsibility today, and he changed his plea to guilty. Magistrate Herbert Panton sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment, which was recorded as being served from the first day he was remanded to jail.

This meant that he could finally go home after he promised his brother before the court that he wouldn't do it again.
