Social Security Workers Reps Meet With PM
Thu, October 15, 2015
Employees of the Social Security Board had been staging sickouts for the past week - but things seemed to have cooled down today. And that may be because the Social Security Board workers met with Prime Minister Barrow yesterday about their uniform allowance. Reports are that no official agreement or compromise was finalized but we are told the meeting was cordial where the workers presented their position and the PM listened. As we have reported, SSB management had proposed an ex-gratia payment to settle this matter and also recommended that the uniform period be extended to 24 months instead of 18 but, the workers rejected that. So that is where things stand tonight. We are told there may be some room for compromise between both sides on this matter.
