BAVIA: Killed Canadian Klinck Will Be Missed
Tue, January 5, 2016
Earlier in our newscast we told you about the murder of one of the film industry's pioneers Matthiew Klinck. Since arriving in Belize 5 years ago Matthiew has produced plentifully, gaining the respect of his colleagues and contributing to the development of the film industry. Today we spoke to Brent Toombs a board member of the Belize Audio Visual Industry Association, BAVIA. He expressed his condolences to the family of Matthiew Klinck and described what this loss means for the film industry in the country.

Brent Toombs, Belize Audio Visual Industry Association
"I mean we are such a small industry. There is only so many of us working in this industry in Belize, so it's a huge loss. We've lost not just part of our film family in Belize, but we lost a contributing productive member who is actually producing good work. So we've lost that. But like I said, I think it's more in the fact that Matthew is very good at training people, getting people excited and getting people to be attracted to seeing film as an option either as an artistic expression or as a profession. And so we've lost that. We've lost somebody who I think bring a lot of people into the industry and gave them their first exposure to film."

Matthew is most known in Belize for his feature film, "Curse of the Xtabai" and for his work on the "La Isla Bonita" Telenovela.
