Cabinet’s 7 Day Wonder
Wed, June 8, 2016

And while Hulse would not say it, inevitably, those political connections go back to the UDP hierarchy, which also leads back to the political directorate in Cabinet.  So, since Hulse’s tenure at the Ministry of Natural Resources appears to be a lightning rod for inter-Cabinet resentment of the Prime Minister, how does he see his relations with his colleagues?  That’s what we asked him today:…

Jules Vasquez
"How would you characterise the mood in the cabinet; this is the second cabinet you've been in. The Prime Minister has two issues; he has a Deputy Prime Minister who 11 ministers opposed his election in the convention. Convention done, majority rules okay and he also has a minister of the war chess, the natural resources who is unelected and immune apparently to political persuasion and pressure. How does that affect Mr. Barrow's management of the cabinet?"

Hon. Godwin Hulse, Minister of Natural Resources
"Well everything in Belize you know Jules is a 7 day wonder and the 7 days passed. Today's mood was great, cordial and good."
