Very regularly on the news, we show you fishermen who break the fisheries laws with out of season catches.

But, there are also responsible fisher folk who follow the laws and practice sustainable fishing with a mind to preserve fish stocks in Belize's rivers and sea.

Today, the Fisheries Department honoured 3 of them by choosing two outstanding fisherfolk, and 1 Fisherman of the year for 2016. Two of those exemplary fishermen told us how they balance conservation and their needs to earn as breadwinners:
