And while Earl thrashed the venerable Island basketball court - it did the same to fences along southern foreshore. We couldn't fit this into our coverage last week - but the state of these fences show the power of the storm surge, which smashed concrete like it was cardboard. The fences of the Castillo, Usher and Anglican homes have stood for decades, but could not withstand the storm surge on foreshore, which appears to have been especially strong, since many concrete structures in that area were compromised. |
