House Speaker Says Auditor General Has It All Wrong
Thu, August 25, 2016
So, Heredia has some explaining to do, but one person who said he sure doesn't is House Speaker Michael Peyrefitte. He's also named in the audits, for recommending a passport for William Lindo, son of Bill Lindo. . Well, the Auditor General names him as a person who ought not to have made a recommendation, but Peyrefitte differs sharply.

That's because as Speaker of the House of Representatives, he is also a member, just like the other 31 elected politicians. He asserts that he is authorized to recommend people as a Member of the House of Representatives, and today when we caught up with him, he told us that the Auditor General got it all wrong. He is demanding an apology, and an amendment to the audits to have his name removed. Here's how he made the point to us today:

This evening, we spoke with Auditor General Dorothy Bradley via telephone, and we asked her for a response to Peyrefitte's assertion that she made a huge mistake naming him as someone who was not authorized as a House Member to make recommendations on Passport application. She told us that she is unable to make any comments at this time until after the document has been tabled. That happens tomorrow.

As you saw in our story, she also names Dickie Bradley as someone who ought not to have made recommendations on the 3B portion of the passport application. We tried reaching Bradley for comment, but his phone went straight to voicemail.
