Young McDonlad Had Some Luck
Tue, September 13, 2016
Today a pregnant 19-year-old avoided jail time when the judge was lenient with her. Amy McDonald took the rap for her boyfriend Aaron Brown when they were both accused of burglary.

They both pleaded guilty to entering the home of Sherman Tasher, on Iguana Street Extension with an intent to steal. They both pleaded guilty but Brown had an explanation. He told the court that he had no idea that she was burglarizing the house since she had a key for the door. McDonald told the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith that it was all her fault and that is why she is taking the rap for the burglary. Now that carries a mandatory prison sentence, but the law allows special circumstances where the court can refrain from imposing the mandatory jail term if there are extenuating circumstances as in the case of McDonald who is 3 months pregnant.

And, Chief Magistrate Smith told McDonald that the only reason she is refraining from imposing a jail time is because she is very young and 3 months pregnant.

With that she fined her $300 plus and she has until end of September 2016 to pay the fine in default 6 months imprisonment.

After McDonald pleaded guilty, the prosecutor withdrew the charge from her boyfriend but it turns out he had an outstanding 200 dollars fine for possession of controlled drugs. So the Chief Magistrate ordered that he could go free until he settled his fines or face 2 months imprisonment.
