Belize Observer In Bahamas Election
Thu, May 11, 2017
The island nation of Bahamas had general elections on Wednesday and by last night it was clear that the ruling party, the PLP, had been swept out of office by the FNM Party which won 34 out of the 39 seats. Dr Hubert Minnis will be the new Prime Minister replacing Perry Christie - who lost his own seat, after holding it for 40 years straight.

It's news in Belize because Belize's Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai led the Caricom Observer Mission. She was assisted by the Elections director of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, Orrette Fisher, as well as other members from Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, all with experience in management and election observation.
