Jamal Jackson To Jail
Tue, June 20, 2017
Today 32 year old Jamal Jackson appeared in the Magistrate's Court where he was handed two 3 year sentences. In February 2016, Jackson was pursued by police in relation to a shooting the occurred on Albert Street. Jackson did not have any firearm when they confronted him, but he led the cops to a 9mm pistol and 9 rounds of ammunition.

Jackson - who had been found guilty last week - was charged for keeping a firearm and ammunition without a gun license and for handling stolen goods. Before sentencing him, Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith heard pleas for mitigation from Jackson's mother Alice Roches and his attorney Douglas Carr. However, Smith told them that she could not give leniency because of Jackson's criminal past which dates back to 2005.

Jackson has been previously convicted for firearm and ammunition offenses and is awaiting trial for an attempted murder.

He beat a murder rap about a year ago and was later charged with kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition after he was shot in the foot by police during an attempted robbery at Scotia Bank in February of 2016.
