Wilfred Seen At SICA

Yesterday Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wilfred Elrington traveled to Costa Rica to attend the 49th SICA Summit of Heads of Government and State. According to a press release, Elrington participated in discussions about furthering regional cooperation and security, while also expressing concerns about other extra-regional challenges. In particular, the Minister spoke about his concern with recent United States policies regarding immigration and climate change, and the possible negative effects they can have on the Central American region.

The summit also discussed strategies for stabilizing the Venezuelan economy, addressing the widening poverty gap, and focusing on technological advances.

The Summit will close tomorrow, after more debate on battling organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.
