Stabbing Victim Found Near Coro Slaughterhouse, Girlfriend A Suspect
Tue, March 13, 2018
And from that drowning, we turn now to a murder in Corozal. On Saturday afternoon, police were called out to an area on the outskirts of that northern town, about 200 yards off the San Jomal Road.

Near the slaughterhouse, which is close to the intersection with the Phillip Goldson Highway, the cops found the body 41 year-old Mark Anthony Clarke, who lives near to where he was found. Someone stabbed him multiple times to the chest area, and the cops also found a cut wound on his neck.

We're told that this location used to be a garbage dump.

Now, police don't have much to go on - other than a lead that points to a possible intimate connection. Today, the Head of NCIB told us that the investigators are asking for anyone with information to come forward and help them solve Clark's murder:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On the San Jomal Road, a few yards off the road, where they discovered body of a male person later identified to be Mark Anthony Clarke, a 41 year-old Belizean, of a Santa Rita Road address, in Corozal Town with multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen area. The scene was processed, and the body was transported to the Corozal hospital, where it awaits a post-mortem examination, which will be conducted later today. Police investigation have since led to the detention of several persons who were interviewed. They conducted several house searches, as well as vehicle searches, and are following several other leads. Any information that the public can assist the police with, at this point in time, will be greatly appreciated, in order for us to conclude this investigation. So far, no charges have been laid against anyone."

Daniel Ortiz, reporter
"We had understood that police were possibly seeking - if I'm not mistaken - the girlfriend of the deceased. Are you able to confirm, and are you able to say whether or not police have been able to get in touch with this person, to question that person?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes, this person is also a part of the group of persons in detention, pending this investigation."

Daniel Ortiz
"Are puzzled as to what happened with Mr. Clarke, or do you all have a general idea as to what happened?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"No, the thing is that we are following up on several leads in relation to the investigation."

Sources from Corozal tell us that Clarke was seen having a few drinks at a bar in Corozal on Friday night, and he was then discovered dead on Saturday.

A Post mortem showed that he bled to death from multiple stab wounds.
