Negative Inflation in February

The Statistical Institute of Belize also had the latest figures on the Consumer Price Index. That measures the cost of all items in the average shopping basket and determines whether prices were going up or down. They found that in February of 2018, prices were trending down. Here's more:

"The national increasing rate for the month of February 2018 was at -0.5%. Meaning that on average, prices were 0.5% lower than they were than in February of 2017. The food and non-alcoholic beverages category decreased by 0.4%. The transport category decreased by 7% and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels category reported in 0.5% increase."

Inflation was highest in Punta Gorda and lowest in San Ignacio/Santa Elena.
