First City Shooting In Two Weeks Looks Gang Related
Tue, April 10, 2018
Gun violence in Belize City had been on the low from before Easter, but there was an incident this evening - the first in two weeks - and our sources say it could be gang related.

Just before 4:30 this evening 22 year old Dean Nembhard was shot on Holy Emmanuel Street in the St. Martin's Area, which is where he lives, but it's also the dividing line between two rival gangs. He was rushed to the KHMH where doctors found that he received two gunshots to the lower right abdomen.

Nembhard was in the news in December, after he was shot in the hand while allegedly trying to pull off an armed robbery at Monica's Pawn shop.

This time, we are told he may have been targeted in the ongoing rivalry between the neighboring gangs. Nembhard reportedly switched allegiances between gangs after a relative was killed. He may have been targeted for that reason. Police have a known suspect who is being sought tonight.
