The Leo Bradley Library got a valuable collection of books and recordings today. It's a collection of works from Olatunji Balogun. He died last year and his wife, friends and fans all gathered at the library today to hand over all his books. Courtney Weatherburne has more.

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
An ancestral performance from the Kwatamani Royal family - a tribute to their hero and friend Olatunji Balogun.

Balogun was an author and researcher known for his works "A victim of my Own Wealth" among other publications. He was originally from Trinidad and Tobago but at age 36, he made Belize his home and it's ultimately where he made his mark.

Lucia Regina Ellis, Wife
"He refers to Belize as a womb for him where he was nurtured and he was looking at a positive way of life so he spent his quiet time on his farm in Unitedville, where he did a lot of research."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"What did he research?"

Lucia Regina Ellis, Wife
"African, anything to do with Africa, there was this group called the First World Alliance in New York that he was familiar with."

"So he would go to their lectures but coming over he continued his relationship with them so that they would have study groups on black people issues and he arranged with them to send him the tapes and he would send the money and they would send the tapes so we have on spirituality, on education, on prison military complex different scholars would come in and be guest presenters at these forums so that is how he started to collect in the initial phase. It was more collection and studying."

Balogun died last year May at age 70.

And to honor his work, his wife gifted all his books and tape recordings to the Leo Bradley Library - where Balogun's message will live on.

Lucia Regina Ellis, Wife
"You know after someone dies you see all these things, what are you going to do with them I could not throw them away, I knew they were valuable, it is a treasure so through him I got a good relationship with the library so I approached them and they said first word yes."

"There is not a day when somebody will not think of Baba Olatunji because of the message that he used to give out, the things he used to say. People are quoting him all over the world actually because we did tours in Costa Rica, Trinidad and he did lecture tours in the states as well combining it with visiting family and being guest speaker so he really has touched the world."

Everyone can have access to Balogun's works at the Library. The library workers will transfer all his tape recordings to digital form for preservation.
