High Noon Hold-Up At Hofius
Thu, May 31, 2018
Daring gunmen did the unexpected today when they attempted to rob Hofius Hardware which is in the epicenter of Belize City's downtown. It happened at around noon - which is also rush hour.

At about 12:48, two men strode into Hofius and one of them pulled out a chrome .38 pistol and pointed it at the cashier. That's when his accomplice, opened the cash register and snatched over a thousand dollars in cash along with some checques. Police could not say for sure how they escaped. Previously, it would be unthinkable for an armed robbery to occur at high noon in the heart of the city's commercial center.

Hofius was established in 1914 - making it one of the longest established businesses in the country. The owner declined an interview.
