Police Need Eyewitnesses For Woman’s Shooting
Thu, July 12, 2018
But, the cops aren't having the same kind of luck, just yet, with the Belize City shooting of 34 year-old Ambrosa Bernardez. The innocent bystander's shoulder was shattered by a gunshot on Tuesday night while she was sitting with some friends near the Queen Square Primary School.

She was in the company of a group of people, including several women and children. But, that didn't stop a gunman from riding up on a bicycle and opening fire on the group, completely disregarding the danger to those who were also present at the time.

Today, the cops shared some details with the press:

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"On Tuesday 10th July, just minutes before 8pm. Police responded to several shots being fired at the corner West Canal and Armadillo Street, not far from the Raccoon Street Police Station. As a result they proceeded to the hospital where they observed a female identified as Ambrosa Bernardez of a North Creek address suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left right of her shoulder. What the police was able to gather from her and other witnesses in the area was that a group of person were seating on the bridge by the canal side when a male person just rode to their direction and fired several shots at their location injuring Miss Ambrosa Bernardez. A civilian who was in the area had a licensed firearm and he fired several shots at the male person. But apparently the person escaped unhurt. She is presently admitted on a stable condition at the hospital. Yes there were children, adults and we know that the target was a male person who was along with the female and she was not the target. Unfortunately, she was beside that person and she was the one that ended up getting injured."

The cops are asking for the eyewitnesses to come forward and help them bring the shooter to justice. They believe that they have the correct person in custody, but without evidence, they may have to release him.
