Cops Say He Threatened To Kill His Mother, But Brian Brown Bailed
Fri, July 27, 2018
It caused a huge uproar yesterday when police went to arrest the notorious Brian Brown at his home on Jimmy Dyer Street off Faber's Road.

Brown's home has a ten foot concrete fence, and when police showed up there, those in his camp - including minors - started to hurl projectiles at police - who ran to take cover. After that, the cops released white smoke, jumped the fence and dragged brown out of his house in a sheet.

The George Street figure was arrested because his mother gave a statement saying he was threatening to kill her.

Today, the 41 year old Brown faced 5 criminal charges when he went to court. There were three counts of damage to property, one count of wounding upon his sister, and one count of insulting words.

Brown was arraigned before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford in Court #2 and was unrepresented. Court reports say there was no objection to bail, but there was concern for the safety of his relatives since a number of times Brown has been before the court recently for charges stemming from a family dispute. But in the end, because a recovering burn victim, bail was granted for each of the offenses.

Bail conditions are that he is not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses including the two victims, who are his mother and sister. He is also to stay 100 yards away from either of them.

This is a disappointment for police who wanted Brown off the streets. Yesterday Deputy Commissioner Chester Williams discussed the objection to bail:...

Brown's home remains under police surveillance. And, as you heard yesterday, Williams also discussed the threats he says Brown made to his mother, his brother and sister in a dispute over money arising from a land sale:..

DCP Chester Williams, Commander, Operations
"Brian Brown is adamant that his family members owe him money and he wants the money to be paid and he had made it categorically clear that if his money is not paid, he will kill his family including his mother, his sister and his brother and that he has soldiers who can do it for him and so as a police department we can't take his threat lightly."

As we noted, Brown has pleaded not guilty.
