| 23 Year Old Arraigned For Rape of Child |

23 year-old Kreshawn Franzua, a resident of Dangriga Town, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after a 13 year-old girl accused him of rape.
His accuser told police that the incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on June 20, at a house on Lavender Street in Belize City. The 13 year-old's mother visited the police station and reported that she woke up at that time. She went into her daughter's room and found Franzua about to rape her. Her daughter was sleeping on her stomach, and her tights and underwear were pulled down. The 13 year-old mother told police that when Franzua spotted her, he made a mad dash out of the house.
Police had a bit of difficulty locating Franzua, until they detained him in Dangriga yesterday. He was then arrested and charged with rape, and he was arraigned today before Magistrate Emmerson Banner.
Due to the nature of the offense, no plea was taken from him, and no bail was offered. He was remanded to prison until his next court date, which is scheduled for September 26.
