Bar Association Will Get Legal Opinion on ICJ
Tue, January 15, 2019
Keeping it on the topic of the referendum, the Bar Association says it is getting its own legal opinion on the dispute. A Bar Association press release says, quote, "â€Â¦The Association intends to hold a public forum to assist in furthering the ongoing national public education on the issue. In this regard, the Association has retained the services of Professor Stephen Vasciannie CD, an expert on international law, to provide an updated legal opinion on the dispute, which would form the basis for the discussions at the public forum." End quote.

Stephen Vasciannie is a professor of International Law at University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He has served as Jamaica's Ambassador to the United States, and the OAS. He has also been principal of the Norman Manley Law School, and he is currently the President of the University of Technology, Jamaica.

The Bar Association will announce the date and the venue of this ICJ forum at a later time.
