Our colleagues from CTV-3 spoke to Jesus Javier Gonzalez about this frightening home invasion. He goes into detail about what happened and how shocked he was when he saw his elderly mother in law tied up. Here is his account - translated from Spanish.

Jesus Gonzalez - Victim
"Well yesterday around 1:30 when I came home from work, I entered my property with my employee and we didn’t hear any noise or anything but when we entered the meat shop that we have here to put up the meat that was left, three men of color with guns and knives they threatened us, they grabbed us, they hit us and then they took away my money from my meat shop, they took away my gun and from there I thought that was it because they already had my money and so I told the man well since you already have the money leave us alone and get away and then he responded that that wasn’t all and then he grabbed me by my shirt near my neck and they hit me and my employee and then they took us to the room at the back of the house. I didn’t know what had happened so when I got into the room at the back of the house, it surprised me when I walked in I saw they tied up and gagged my mother in law so she wouldn’t shout and also the guy who stays with my mother in law they had him tied up."

Gonzalez also describes the turn of events that happened after, Gonzalez says after he sat down in the room, one of the men grabbed his employee and took him to the other room and he heard a lot of commotion. When the men emerged, it’s the employee who was attacking the culprit. Then another one of the attackers intervened and fired a shot at the employee which only grazed him. Gonzalez and his employee then scrambled to hide behind a door and that’s when the assailants ran off. That is when Gonzalez called the police. This daring early afternoon attack has left the family shaken, especially his 90 year old mother in law. Gonzalez says he will be even more vigilant because this is the 2nd time he and his family have been targeted. Gonzalez says quick police work has led to the detention of two of the men.
