Church Takes on Cyber Bullying
Wed, February 27, 2019
And the Council of Churches didn't only go boldly ahead on the ICJ referendum, it staked out a position on many hot button social issues, namely gender based violence, and cyber- bullying.

The statement says, quote, "we firmly believe that gender-based violence against men, women and children, has no place in our society…." End quote. It urges churchgoers to challenge language that degrades women, identify and oppose gender harassment and violence in your community, among other measures.

On the issue of cyber-bullying, the statement says, quote, "The Belize Council of Churches finds this behaviour abhorrent, and believes that no one should ever bully, harass, intimidate, or otherwise annoy another person, for example, by broadcasting unsolicited messages or sending unwanted mail or images."

To this end, 7News has learned that Cabinet yesterday approved the drafting of amendments to the criminal code to criminalize the public distribution of private videos and images of an intimate nature and other forms of sexual cyber bullying.
