The Free Zone has been in a slowdown for years now - and on most days when you visit it’s like a ghost town. 

That’s why today the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Commerce held a Validation Workshop about Repurposing the Free Zone.â€￾

A study looks at Redevelopment of the free zone to include an entertainment/tourism-focused Free Zone area; and a proposal to have a separate, nearby industrial area focused on Agro-processing exports that would all lead to a repurposed Free Zone linked to the Corozal district.
