"I was sleeping, me and my family, Sunday morning around 6:45 and I heard a gunshot and then somebody in the house started to cry or holler. And then I heard another gunshot and I didn’t hear nothing afterwards."

That cry for help came from Denmark Casimiro.

He was gunned down and killed inside his Sandhill home. Residents say he had just arrived at his house on Sunday morning, dropped his bag at his step and went to borrow a lighter from the neighbor’s house. But when Casimiro returned home, a hostile visitor was waiting for him.

"When he came back the person was either in the house or when he went upstairs the person ran behind him."

"So the person was lay waiting him, he was observing his movements?"

Jeovanni Casimiro, Brother
"Yes and then they had an exchange of words, he ask him where is my thing? And then my brother told him do what you have to do that is what they said my brother said. And after that they heard the first shot and then awhile after they heard another shot."

Residents say a man had threatened Casimiro earlier in the week and that same man may also be the gunman.

"They said that the first confrontation was about a tattoo machine earlier in the week."

"I don’t know what the situation is about but the argument was about a tattoo machine."

For his family and friends, it is still a hard pill to swallow because Casimiro kept to himself and didn’t trouble anyone.

"Denmark is a cool guy, I do not know him as a problem person, from the time I knew him, I went to school with him and his sister Kimberly everything and he was a cool person, he lived around here, no bother anyone, do his little hustle."

Casimiro leaves behind a daughter.
