Manslaughter Charge For Baby Banner's father
Wed, June 5, 2019

Manslaughter - that's what baby Thevanne Banner's father has been charged with.

28 year old Troy Banner was charged this evening in Belmopan and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.

That charge is based on the advice of the DPP who concluded that the evidence could not support a more serious charge.

As we reported, based on the results of the post mortem, the baby boy died due to fractures to the head and back - what is known as battered child syndrome.  He had bruises under his eye, on his temple and on his back - by all appearances and findings, the little newborn had been badly beaten.

Troy Banner said that those injuries appeared when he was trying to resuscitate the child.  He has flatly denied harming the child deliberately.

Police have also gotten a statement the mother of another of Banner's children born 7 years ago.  She claims that he inflicted similar injuries on her child.  But in that case, the child survived.
