MOH Says Generic Drugs Safe

With the landscape of available pharmaceuticals have changed in the past year - many who use prescription drugs ar enow having to use generics. They are cheaper, but are they as good as the brand name product?

Well, the Ministry of Health's Drug Inspectorate says they are. The Ministry sent five different generic medications to the Caribbean Regional Public Health Agency's (CARPHA) Drug Testing Laboratory for testing. A release says the medications range from antibiotics to antidiabetic drugs that were sampled from the public sector.

It concluded all five medications have passed the quality tests performed as per international standards. This means that these generic medications are of confirmed quality.
