Bail for Brown, allegedly Dragged His Girlfriend Alongside Moving Car
Wed, July 24, 2019

Tonight, Belize City resident Trevor Brown is out on bail after he was taken to court for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, and then injuring her sister with his vehicle.

On Thursday night, police found 26-year-old Yasmeen Young, from Unity Street, with scratches, swelling, and bruises on her face and upper body.  She also had a broken tooth.

She reported to police that that around 5:00 that evening, she was at home, and her sister, Jayelle Young, was speaking with her boyfriend, Trevor Brown in his car, which was parked in the yard. She suddenly heard her sister screaming for help, and she ran out to assist. Yasmeen allegedly found Jayelle seated in a slanted position, while her boyfriend, was allegedly holding her head down.

Yasmeen grabbed hold of her sister’s hand trying to pull her out of the vehicle, but that’s when Brown allegedly sped off. Yasmeen’s hand got stuck in the door, and she told police that Brown dragged her along on the street, while her hand was stuck in the door, and that’s how she suffered all those injuries she had on her body. She managed to pull herself free from the vehicle’s door some 150 feet away from her home. She told the cops that, when she fell, one of the back wheels of Brown’s car ran over her left hand.

Police were at a checkpoint nearby, and they were the ones who rushed Yasmeen Young to the hospital.

Police arrested and charged Brown with aggravated assault, and wounding against Yasmeen Young, and common assault against Jayelle Young. He was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and since there were no objections, the Senior Magistrate granted him bail of $1,500. He must stay away from his alleged victims, and he cannot contact them in any way, or else his bail can be revoked.

He must return to court on September 23, 2019.
