PM To Nurses, "I Heard You!"
Mon, April 6, 2020
That's a whole lot complaints. Here's what the PM said in response today:

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"Public or personal protective equipment, again, I see that there is an outcry on the part of the nurses. We dealt with that this morning and I hope successfully and I imagined that even now the authorities are in the process of communicating tis to the nurses. We do have absolutely a sufficiency of PPEs, so no frontline worker need go without a PPE. Lots of the PPEs are in storage and unfortunately that had to be done for the purposes of accountability. You know how it is and I am not pointing fingers at any particular individual or group of individuals, but before the healthcare personnel adopted this new approach, there were leakages - some of the equipment were going missing. So we've had to re-strategized, but the fact is no healthcare worker at any of the public facilities is being asked to do without the PPE. I saw one other thing where the nurses complained that the areas, I believe they are talking about KHMH. I don't know it is the same throughout the country, but concentrating on KHMH for the moment - that there are tents being used and that these tents are not in their view safe enough and they want permanent shelters. Well, that will take a while to construct, but if as I heard the tents that are currently being used are too flimsy, then while we are trying to construct, we will get heavy duty tents from the Belize Defence Force."
