The Man Behind The Mask
Fri, May 15, 2020
And, if you're wondering why the Prime Minister didn't wear a mask during his marathon - almost three hour press conference yesterday - he did have an explanation. Here's how he put it when asked:

Reporter
"I notice that you don't have on the mask again, is there any relaxing of that measure? Will everybody be ask going forward to wear their mask in public and so on?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"Sir, so I came to the office and had to be in public with my mask. I took off the mask for purposes of speaking to you because it's a little bit of a hindrance and everybody else in the room has on a mask, so please don't misinterpret the fact that I am not wearing it. I am protected since everybody else is wearing one and certainly once I leave the building and I'm going out into the open I will always wear my mask unless that particular requirement changes."

In a 32 minute interview with the media last month, by our count, the PM touched his mask 123 times. In his press conference last week, he hardly touched it all, but instead adjusted the straps every few minutes.
