And, Belize has a lot to protect. It is now the only nation on the mainland of the Americas which has gone more than 1 day without detecting a positive case of COVID 19.
This distinction comes after a positive case was detected in Suriname on Saturday. That tiny south American nation had been without a case for 44 days up to that point. But, on Saturday, a Brazilian two had slipped into their country illegally tested positive for COVID 19.
So - to repeat - Belize is now the only non island nation in the hemisphere which has gone more than 1 day without detecting a positive case. And, presently, this country has gone 36 days without a negative test!
The island nation of Dominica has gone 38 days while Saint Kitts and Nevis has gone 28 days. The island territories of St. Barth;s and Anguilla have both almost gone 50 days.
