Hondurans Found. Fishing in Marine Reserve
Mon, June 8, 2020
Three Honduran fishermen were caught early this morning fishing in the Gladden Spit Marine Reserve last night - and they had a boatload of illegally caught fish!

A joint patrol with Coast Guard and the Southern Environmental Alliance found the 3 men at around 1:00am this morning. Their vessels, gear and product were confiscated. They were detained and were taken to Placencia where they are being held at the police station.

Now, apart from being illegal fishers, they have also crossed the border illegally. so, first of all they have to be quarantined and could be swabbed by the Ministry of Health because of the corona virus threat.

They are expected to face significant charges as well for fishing in a marine reserve.
