Dr. Candice Scolds Party Leader
Mon, June 15, 2020
City councillor and Mesopotamia aspirant Candice Pitts raised many eyebrows with a scolding letter she sent to her party leader John Bricneo. The Letter says,

"As you may recall, you were a member of the team in 2007, whose internal political reform led to the party's mandate to ensure there is a 30 percent representation of women in parliament.

To date, there seems to be more lipservice done by the PUP rather than serious efforts to realize and actualize this mandate…..

This seems to be the perpetuation of the diliberate and disgraceful underrepresentation of women in our political affairs, by a mass party for which you are Leader…..Given that your party will now have 29 men and 2 women to contest the next general elections, the hope is that you and your party would now treat as priority the candidacy of these two women.

There seems to be…a circle of 3 or 4 people (making) the decisions for this party, when it is the standard bearers who are in the trenches laboring to ensure victory. With such arrangements and attitudes, victory may indeed come, but it may either be (stillborn), short-lived, or pyrrhic.

Honorable Party Leader, you are at the helm of this party. What we need more than ever is Leadership--but a leadership that is connected to the people, a leadership that listens, a leadership that can address concerns meaningfully, and a leadership that ensures we progress towards our just objectives." End quote.

Pitts today told us that she didn't want to comment, that she wrote a letter to my Party Leader that was made public and that the matter is an internal one.
