Cleanliness In Schools
Fri, July 17, 2020
And a big part of the new reality at schools is that they will have to be stringently cleaned and on a daily basis to eliminate any appearance of the virus. And apart from classroom cleaning, washing hands will be a part of the daily routine for students. The Chief Education Officer explained:

Dr. Carol Babb, Chief Education Officer
"There are 3 important measures that parents must keep in mind: regular hand washing, physical distancing and the wearing of masks. And so for schools what we are recommending to ensure that there are enough hand wash basins in schools that there must be 1 basin for at least 50 students. Classrooms will be clean and disinfected daily and between sessions and breaks. Regular handwashing and other hygiene practices will be implemented. Students desks or their furniture will be seated 3-6 feet a part while in class. In cases where all students can't be accommodated, especially in very big schools, they will have to implement a shift system or an alternate day or week and that is something that the managements will submit to the ministry and we will review those and advise them. UNICEF has agree to give us $120,000 in sanitization supplies and those supplies will be shared with primary schools across the country. We also have the ministry of health and they have given us 14 drums of hand washing liquid. Again, that will be shared with every school in each district. BEL has committed to $50,000 is supplies and in whatever we may consider necessary, whether it be handwashing basins, supplies or whatever the schools would like us to help with."
