Tue, April 16, 2024
A 74 year old US tourist drowned yesterday near South West Caye off the Glover's Reef Atoll while snorkeling.

He is 74 year old Kent Foster who had been visiting Belize along with his wife.

According to a police Report, Foster and his wife were staying in Placencia and had chartered a boat on Thursday April 11th to go snorkeling at the cayes.

His wife told police that Foster had been in the water for 20 minutes when he complained that he was having trouble with his snorkeling gear, and so he took it off and began to float on his back. As he drifted out further into the water his wife grabbed him and noticed that he was unresponsive. The boat captain performed CPR on him but his attempts were unsuccessful. Foster's body was taken back to Dangriga town where medical professionals determined that Foster may have suffered from a tear of one of his cardiac arteries.
