A 23 year old San Pedro man passed away in police custody this morning. Just before 6:30 this morning, the cops were called to Villa Abrazos by the security guard who informed them that a man was sitting on a log on the beach front and then ran onto the property and began climbing a tree. He refused to come down and told the security guard that he was chased by a dog.
So how did he end up dead? Here's what ACP Romero told us so far.
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"Upon their arrival police saw that this person had climbed a tree. He was ordered to come down. There was a dispute between him and the police. Thereafter he came down and force had to be used for him to be subdued. He was then taken into custody, taken to the San Pedro station where they noticed that he was in distress and had become unconscious. He was rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic where he succumbed. He was identified as Selvin Sealy, 23 years of San Pedro."
According to the police report, after Sealy came down from the tree, he jumped into the pool and refused to come out. When he finally did, he slipped and hit his chin on the side of the pool twice. He fell once more before he came out and was subdued.
