Tue, May 13, 2025
And, of you don't know your vaccine status, or are uncertain - here's what you should know:

Dr. Natalia Beer, Technical Advisor, Maternal and Child Health
"Well, the most effective way to prevent measles is vaccine."

"So every individual should ensure that they are vaccinated. And if you happen to have children, review your child health cards and make sure that the child is immunized against measles."

Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa, Director, Public Health & Wellness
"So routinely, children, two doses as a part of our routine immunization at 12 and 18 months of age, unvaccinated individuals over 18 months old, two doses given one month apart."

"So if you have a five year old who missed the 12 month and 18 month, you can utilize the individuals who have received only one dose. An additional booster dose is recommended. Persons who might say, well, I think I got the vaccine. I remember that my mom used to give it, but I don't have my card. One dose is advised and all our health facilities have, these vaccines available and readily available, so you can walk in and get the vaccines."

Dr. Natalia Beer
"We have administered, so far, 2,500 doses of vaccine from April to now. From since the previous. April and May. So, that is very low. We need to increase the uptake of the vaccines."
