She Found Gauze Inside Her And Now She Can't Get Her Medical Records
Mon, May 19, 2025
On Friday we had part one of our story about the 40 year old single mother - who found out that a doctor had left a roll of gauze inside her. It was a terrifying discovery - but she managed to get life saving surgery to remove it.

Now, the struggle to get her medical records from the private hospital where she performed her last surgery in 2016 is proving almost as difficult. Here's part two of our story:

You already heard how a doctor in the US removed this bundle of gauze from inside Kimberly Price's midsection - but how did it get there?

She believes it dates to a surgery for fibroids she did at Belize Healthcare Partners in 2016 - but, through its attorney, the hospital says quote, "the allegations made are unfounded and unsupported by medical evidence."

Still, she believes her records from the hospital will fill in a big piece of this medical puzzle - but they don't want to release it:

Jules Vasquez
"I understand the Belize Healthcare Partners does not want to release your medical records."

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"That is so true, Jules. My lawyer have requested my records because I've been, I've been with that institution since 2011."

"I've been doing several procedures, ultrasounds, screenings, whatever the case may be to, you know, to, that's that's my hospital. That's my institution where I do my, you know, my complete physical. I've been visiting there since 2011. And they refused to, they refused to release my medical records."

"And by right, we, we should have those to see. Because the doctor from the U.S, she is saying once they've done procedures on me, once they've done, you know, what would you say like ultrasounds and different, different scanning of my body, they would have detected that from 2016. So we want to see what type of imaging was done on me to, for them to not or for their, for the doctor to miss."

Her Attorney is David Mckoy - who has been writing to the Hospital since last year:

David McKoy, Attorney - Kim Price
"They have not given me anything, which is essentially what my client wants. Her medical records."

"And we are of the view that if we get the medical records, then we will be able to perhaps discuss further and for the matter to, to determine whether there is the need for a claim or, a settlement or some sort of resolution that will bring some sort of, I should say, a justification, closure to my client. At this point, she don't have no closure."

"Because you must have that you cannot be a doctor, and do not have your, your patient file or, be reluctant to, to, to disclose it. Because if you are being transparent and you're saying that you did not cause, an event, it is not your fault, then disclose the records. You have nothing to fear."

And, as their comment to us says, the hospital rejects her narrative, saying that her allegations are "unfounded and unsupported by medical evidence."

Price says it's like they are calling her a liar:

Jules Vasquez
"But has there been any suggestion that you may have, this gauze may have ended up in you through some other means?"

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"Yes."

"But they are saying that they're not sure if I've done any procedures other than 2016, which is ridiculous, Jules."

Jules Vasquez
"How does that suggestion make you feel?"

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"That makes me feel really, uneasy because it's like basically, basically calling me a liar to my face."

David Mckoy, Attorney - Kim Price
"However, I must say that I have given them all the information that I have, and they are of a different opinion."

And that difference of opinion seems to be headed to court:

David Mckoy, Attorney - Kim Price
"We will be taking this matter to court. We have done our work, prior to 2025. And, so one way or the other, we will get those medical records. So, it's just a matter of time."

Jules Vasquez
"Do you feel sense of betrayal?"

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"Most definitely. Jules. Especially for the amount of money that we're paying to the institution."

"We want the best and we are hoping for the best. So yes, I definitely feel like I've been betrayed."

"That 2016 surgery cost $11,000."

Jules Vasquez
"Since then, how much would you say you've had to spend on imaging, medical consults and then a surgery in the US?"

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"Oh, wow. Yeah. I cannot begin to put a figure on that, but it's we put an $11,000."

Right now, though, Kimberly Price is just grateful for her health which has been restored - and she wants to set an example:

Jules Vasquez
"Why are you choosing to speak out?"

Kimberly Price, Wants Medical Records
"Well, Jules to be honest with you, I'm hoping that my testimony reaches someone that has endured a similar situation like myself. I want them to know that their voices are important."

"I want them to know they're not alone in this. I also want them to know that our voices are what we have, and if we choose to fear, then that consumes us and we allow these people, these practitioners to get away with these types of stuff."

We'll keep following the story.
