Mother Of Four Dies In Motorcycle Collision
Mon, May 26, 2025
And now to the story of a mother of four killed in a motorcycle accident.

Their neighbours say that they left home that night and never returned.

A fatal road traffic accident between two motorcycles in Ladyville on the Phillip Goldson Highway claimed the life of the Guatemalan national. Jomarie Lanza spoke to one of her grieving friends this morning who had just gotten the news herself. Here's that story.

This was the motorcycle that 24 year old Francisco Cortez and his partner Celia Carballo were traveling on when another cycle collided into them on the Phillip Goldson Highway in Ladyville. Both Cortez and Carballo were flung from the cycle, but Carballo did not survive the accident when she was flung to the pavement. According to their neighbours they had lived in this house for the past 2 years along with Carballo's daughter. They described them as a happy couple who worked and kept to themselves.

Carballo's friend Dorita Withal told us that she heard about the accident, but never imagined that it was her friend whom she had just seen the day before.

Dorita Witzil, Friend of Deceased
"At this moment I can't even digest it yet because I could not believe I just found out like 15 mins ago that it's her, earlier this morning I just knew that she was in an accident. I didn't know that she passed away until a while ago. It's hard for me you know just to find out something like that and I just spoke to her on Saturday and she was fine and good."

"She is a happy person regardless of what she is going through she is very happy, regardless of her daughter not here she is happy with her daughter that is here the smaller one with her."

"Saturday she was here laughing and I was suppose to see her early this morning but it didn't happen and that's why we were concerned when we didn't see her early this morning."

Carballo, a Guatemalan national, was a mother of 4. Cortez and the driver of the other motorcycle, Hector Soler remain hospitalised. The extent of their injuries is unknown

One of the motorcycles - the one that the victim was on a standard Lifan - while the other was a Ducati racing bike.
