Police at the Raccoon Street stain have long been suffering with leaky ceilings, mold and rat infestation. And yesterday, when theJune rains came, well, it poured down the staircase. It may have looked good if you were maybe filming a music video, but that's no kind of working condition for hard working law enforcement officer.s.
Tonight, the Ministry of Home Affairs has put out a statement saying, quote, "We share the public's concern and wish to assure Belizeans that the well-being of our officers and the integrity of our law enforcement infrastructure remain matters of the highest priority."
So what's the solution?
The release says they are "pursuing temporary accommodations to relocate critical units operating from the Racoon Street Police Station."
The release adds that for the long term, the Ministry is collaborating with international partners to design and construct modern, climate-resilient facilities.
