Official Funeral For 3 Term Representative
Tue, June 10, 2025
Finally tonight, former three term area representative Ralph Fonseca was laid to rest today during an official funeral at Divine Mercy Parish. As we reported, Fonseca passed away around 3:00 in the morning on June 6th after an extended illness.

His funeral was attended by past and current parliamentarians, along with those closest to him. His longtime friend, Chris Coye, gave the eulogy, during which he credited Fonseca for his political career. He added that Fonseca was a man of action actually putting into practice all that he preached. Here is a snippet of the eulogy.

Chris Coye, Eulogist
"Ralph was an indomitable force in politics and in nation building. In politics and in life, one of Ralph's guiding philosophies was to pray as if everything depends on God but to work as if everything depends on you. That balance between faith and action defined him. He believed deeply in personal responsibility, in work, in effort, and in making things better, not just for yourself but for your family, your country, and your people. With this deeply held creed, he committed his life and his life's work to the people of Belize."

"Ralph was a proud Belizean patriot. A man who walked among president and prime ministers, yet never lost touch with the people. To many, he was simply a teacher, a mentor, a friend. And to his family, he was a supporting rock and advisor. For me, many people thought he was my Godfather. Actually, knowing him from childhood as a friend of Ralphie, I initially saw him as my friend's father, but as time passed, he became my friend, my confidant, my brother. Actually, it is his fault that I have become in politics, finance and government. He was a master teacher, not just in economics, world politics, and technology, though these were his fields of expertise, but in the deeper lessons of life: character, perseverance, and what it means to succeed in life. He did not just teach these lessons, he lived them, every single day."
