Fonseca Never Encouraged Albert Vaughan For City Admin
Wed, April 17, 2024
As we told you last night - former city councillor Albert Vaughan has been installed as City Administrator - despite the fact that 6 of the councillors are calling his appointment illegal.

And while there is a public power struggle in City Hall - does it even extend to Cabinet with Francis Fonseca backing Vaughan while another minister is reportedly backing the 6 councillors who want the party secretary general Linsford Castillo for the job?

Today, Fonseca denied those claims, and added that he did not encourage Vaughn to seek that post but instead he would have preferred him to stay within the margins of NICH and his work in Freetown.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Culture
"No no no no no power struggle. I did not encourage Albert to seek that post. I supported him, of course, but he told me that he would but anybody who knows Albert knows that he is his own man. He makes his own decisions. He felt that he could contribute and support the work of the Mayor, and therefore, I think applied for the post. I did not encourage him to do so in fact selfishly I would have preferred for Albert to focus on my work in Freetown as well as the work he does for us at NICH. But he made that decision and obviously he is someone I respect and is someone I like and someone I support so that's where it is."
