When 20 year old Calvin Young was brutally stabbed to death in his Belama home
in November of 2007 – it was a major happening because Young was the son
of well known figure James Young. It was even bigger news that the notorious
Arthur Young – was accused of the crime; up to then, Arthur Young had
been known as an associate of James Young. After the killing, Arthur Young fled
the country. He was not charged until 18 months later, in June of 2009 when
he was deported from the United States where he had been caught as a fugitive.
The man who said that Arthur Young and Errol Butch Haynes killed Calvin Young
is 20 year old Floyd Wade, also known as Floyd Hyde. He was with Calvin Young
in his apartment on that night, and was also stabbed in his chest and neck.
But while he survived, Calvin Young didn’t have a chance, he was stabbed
25 times.
But today in the Supreme Court, Floyd Hyde told the court that he cannot remember
what happened on that night. He was the star witness and without his testimony
Crown Counsels Trenia Young and Cecil Ramirez had no choice but to throw in
the towel. They entered a nolle pros submission indicating that the prosecution
could not proceed further.
With that, Justice Michelle Arana declared that the charge was dismissed and
Young and Haynes were free to go. According to our records, this is the second
time that Young is getting off a murder charge.
