19 year old Ellis Meighan Juniour is no stranger to police - he's very regularly detained and they say it's because he's a major troublemaker in the Banak Street Area.
On Friday we saw he and his brother being dragged to the gang mediation meetings in cuffs.
Well, now police say that also on Friday he tried to escape from them. Those who saw Friday's news will recall that we reported on a wanted man making a dash across the Gwen Lizaragga High compound after police fired a shot at him? Well, that was Ellis Meighan who was eventually taken down by the school's security guards.
Today in court, he was charged with escape from lawful custody to which he pleaded not guilty. He was released on bail of $1,500 and the case was adjourned until the end of October.
Police say that they were pursuing Meighan because he had something incriminating in his pocket. He told us they wanted to question him about a murder.
Meighan told us that indeed he had tried to run away, when police wanted him for questioning. He adds that police beat him and grazed his temple with a bullet...
